As I am sitting here being pissed off about my lame-ass English paper.. I was thinking. I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent person.. but I do terribly in school. There are people in my classes that seem like complete morons, but they get better grades than I do.. what do you base intelligence on? Have I always been an idiot and I just haven't noticed?

Yeah, but don't worry. It's what's on the outside that matters.

I am good at english,but horrible at math.Partly because I chose not to be good at math,since its just so boring aside from the basic skills needed to get by. I personally think that street smarts and academic skills are even. One with street smarts knows how to talk,and get by in the face of public.The other one knows how to talk in a classroom,and get by in that world.The two could actually learn alot from eachother.

I always did horribly in school. Part of the reason I did so poorly was because I had lost interest in what was being taught. I've had my IQ tested, and I have a pretty high IQ, so I would have to say that just because a person is intelligent does not mean they will automatically do well in school. Some people simply don't do well in a school environment. I was one of them.

I am too.. my English professor was saying that for some people, things like TV and movies have trained their brains to concentrate on multiple things for a short period of time.. idk if its because of TV, but my attention span is terrible

The highschool in my town almost killed my spirit. I dropped out for about a year but I did go back in to a different highschool and got my diploma. What's really cool is that my diploma is hand lettered in Gothic font by a member of the staff who is an excellent caligrapher and enthusiast of Celtic artwork. He's also the school janitor.

I almost dropped out too.. I hated my high school. It was in a very small town.. so basically if you weren't a jock, a farmer, or a brain, you were worthless.. I am none of those things so it sucked. The education system at that high school was a joke.. honestly, with the amount of goofing off that I did, and the fact that I never did ANY real work, I shouldn't have graduated.. they just slide you on through so they don't have to deal with you anymore.. now 99% of the graduated students that are going to college are doing badly because they have no study skills

im the same ,,,, im inteligent enouth to easy join mensa but i suck at studys ... i just dont have the patiens it takes to sit for hours and studdy ;(

[rant] I, myself, am a member of Mensa. Just going by what you have typed, there's no way in Hell that you're Mensa material. I hate to sound like a fucking twat, which I know I do, but let's look at this objectively. You misspelled: intelligent, enough, studies, patience, and study. I find it very ironic that you misspelled the word "intelligence". Not only that, but you spelled "I'm" wrong, too. You did not use an apostrophe. You also failed to capitalize words that require capitalization. Last, but not least, you should have said, "easily" - not "easy". So, either you're totally drunk and/or stoned and have lost all control of your bodily functions, or you still have a lot of studying to do. [/rant]

i've seen too many instances of people that were talented in both words and visuals, along with common sense, yet they'd do poorly in school.
i did a damn fine job all the way through school, and could have done fine in college, until i realized that you can get far in life without that piece of paper.
it's experience that matters. it's about time people got past this idea that secondary education is the key to a happy life. yeah, if credit card debt and late blooming is your thing.

well i did a test on mensas homepage and got 16 out of 18 right and when i was done it say that i had wery good chanses of joining mensa

I am glad that most of the required classes for my major are art oriented.. I get to take "intro to hand and power tools" next quarter
