View Full Version : the devil and god
euphoric flame 04-22-01, 13:42 when you really think about it., the devil is a better leader than god is... the devil is faithful to his worshipers and looks after his worshippers. God does not. God lets bad things happen to all of us regardless of if we follow him or not.
The devil makes deals with humans in exchange for something and he keeps his word, which means if we call for him, he will come. God does not. (when I say god, I am refering to the christian god and the same for when I say devil too)
Yes, I know that the devil is bad... evil... whatever. But the devil broke away from god because he wants to.
Also, the only side you see of the devil is what the bible and the christians tell you and that is that only side people see and are exposed to. What if it's really the other way around? who knows?
And I would like to note that I am not a satanist. I just want people to realize that whatever they tell you in church is only one side of the story. It's almost like how rumors work... they only see one side.
So people, think deeply about it before you choose a side.
When was the last time the devil made a deal with you, assfuck?
euphoric flame 04-22-01, 14:36 that's not how it works... in stories, that's how the deal went....
euphoric flame 04-22-01, 14:38 and when I say that the devil makes a better leader... it's because he keeps his deals and he listens to his worshipers, just like the "stories"
If you're going by stories only, then god is the one who lets you live forever in happy shiny land.
Shadow_Born 04-22-01, 15:24 You know, you should read Paradise Lost, by John Milton. It gives the perspective you're looking for. In it, Satan started democracy and stuff.
Dark Messiah 04-22-01, 16:55 I'm going to assume, just for the sake of this thread, that the Devil and God do, in fact, exist, and that the general consensus on them from varying mythologies and religions is more or less accurate.
God= Created the World
Lucifer= Wants to destroy it.
Everything else aside, that right there is enough for me to side with God as far as this argument goes.

:) Well, I do think you for saying such good things about me, however, I never made a deal with you! In my eyes you are nothing but a weak small minded child who is pissed at his parents because they force him to go to church. Keep in mind that even I, Satan, have no huge beef with God. I only said that humans should serve angels, he saw it differently. So I left, and started to see things differently. I saw that humans were not made to serve angels, they were made to serve me. So there is the "big story". Now don't you feel like a little upstarting weakling. So before you start throwing stories around about how horrible God is, look at the whole story. And about the me destroying the world thing, that's the most stupid thing I have ever heard. I only want to change the world, not kill it.
Bitch.
If you are going to accept the idea that the devil exists then you also have to accept the idea that god exists.
First of all, no where is it promised that if you listen to god your life will be wonderful and happy. You're supposed to listen to god because you want to. Not because you are going to be rewarded. All your rewards are supposed to come after your death. Hense the whole basis on faith in the first place.
So, on one hand you have god telling you to listen to him and do what he says. Now most of what he says will, at the least, keep you healthy. Though you may lose a good deal of fun. Now if you do all these things, when you die, you will go to heaven, which is supposed to be a nice joyous place where everyone is happy. (Keep in mind I'm going from the traditional point of view).
On the other hand, you have the devil, who says do what ever the hell you want. Of course, most of the stuff we want to do can lead to death and sickness if done in excess. And there are no instances of the devil making every thing all better if you really mess up. Then you die, and you go to a firey pit of hell where the afterlife sucks and you spend eternity in pain and misery. (Still traditional here)
Oh yeah, I wanna follow the guy that doesn't give a damn about me, and just wants company while he's roasting.
Sure whatever they tell you in church is someone's translation, but please use a little bit of logic here.
God's basic rules are: Be good. Take care of your body. Be nice to people. Respect other's. Basically things that lead to a good healthy society.
Devil's basic rules: Do want you want. Don't help anyone unless you get something out of it. Try to screw as many people over on your way to the top. Me first, me first, me first.
Hmm..I can see how the other side of the story is so much better.
(Note: Above was in the traditional sense, since that's where it started in the first place.)
euphoric flame 04-24-01, 22:42 how do you know for sure that God is good and the devil is evil?
It's like if the God and devil were celebrities, the media image is what you see, and what goes behind the scenes, no one knows.. so ask yourselves if what you know from the bible is what is true...
how about you all read Anne Rice's Novel Memnoch the devil before you say anymore...
Thank you, been there done that. I've been all through the Anne Rice series.
And you know what, I don't know. But I have examples.
The people I know that worship Satan (I mean really worship, not just say they do because it's cool), or the Devil are selfish assholes. They lend nothing to society, and are only concerned with themselves. They don't care who they hurt and they don't care what they do. The negative vibrations coming off of them is almost tangible.
The people I know that worship God, (Again, I mean really worship, not just say they do) are nice, loving people. They like to help people out. Maybe because it makes them feel good, but either way it's a nice gesture. They are concerned for the needs and feelings of others.
Now judging by this, you tell me which side is good and which side is evil. Because I've yet to see a devil worshipper that is capable of thinking beyond their own ego.

You're suggesting- in a non-sarcastic way- that whether or not you've read an Anne Rice novel, of all things, determines your right to speak on an issue?
Ye gods....
 i wonder wat the devil would think if he read this....
or wat if god was sittin on his lil comaq lookin at sites and this place poped up....wat a shame ....the devil is evil u simply want to believe in him b/c u think he'll give u(ppl) stuff when GOD really gave u soo many gifts such as life!..i got my opinion u've got yourz(u ppl)!!!
euphoric flame 04-25-01, 23:53 anything you read, you will take in forever.
because what you read is basically a life (either fiction or nonfiction) mapped out so you can see the cause and effect of situations... and sometimes when you read something, you are in the mind of the charator of the book... and that will give you a certain persective from that character... that's why what you read, you will take it in forever... the perspective of the story and of whatever the book talks about, will be in you... it'll change you...
just like how the bible's viewpoint changes people's viewpoints
that's why I'm asking you to read anne rice's MEMNOCH THE DEVIL... read it before you judge it, and your mind will flow through a new place where you look at the same object but see it like you've never seen it before...
Dark Messiah 04-26-01, 08:45 I'm slightly offended by the suggestion that Anne Rice could think of ANYTHING I couldn't come up with on my own...
But let's view this objectively.
Lucifer wants existence destroyed. Now that doesn't necessarily mean s/he can't be nice or a likeable character. S/he might even have a convincing argument why reality should stop. It does mean that I'm not going to be joining that particular side, however.
Crucifix Angel 04-26-01, 09:09 WHY HASN'T ANYONE AFTER ALL THIS TIME FIGURED IT OUT?!? Add an "o" in god & you get "good." Add a "d" on evil & you get "devil." WHERE DO YOU THINK THE WORDS & IDEAS CAME FROM?!? or was it the other way around? I've known this for years, & no one told me this..I figured it out myself.
Crucifix Angel 04-26-01, 09:22 in case people didn't understand.what I meant was that the words good & evil existed before the terms god & the devil. So someday some guy who started the bible must've thought to himself "there must be an epitome, or at least something that started, good & evil, thus the creation of terms God & the Devil (he probably named the devil after someone he perceived was really evil who name was Lucifer or Satan). Oh, & that Adam & Eve story..in Confirmation class, the teacher said it was MADE UP. Besides, according to science, we know (or at least in theory) that humans did not exist before dinosaurs. The bible mentioned nothing of dinosaurs. Besides, who really believes in a talking snake? & all those miracles, like parting the Red Sea, feeding all those people from a few loaves of bread & fish, & Jesus (a human, even though said to be said Son of God) walking on water? If people said this stuff happened today, but you didn't see it, would you believe it? GET REAL!
Dark Messiah 04-26-01, 09:31 Crucifix, you could convert the Heathen to Christianity with those arguments. Please remain quiet until you have something of even the least little signifigance to say.
Crucifix Angel 04-26-01, 09:41 Of the least bit significance?!? Are you arrogant (do you think you know it all? I HAVEN'T READ A Post YET THAT SAYS THAT ANYYONE AGREES WITH YOU!), or just STUPID?!? WHATEVER! Read it over a BILLION times if you have to. MAKE SOME SENSE OF WHAT YOU SAID, DAMMIT!!!
Dark Messiah 04-26-01, 10:06 Your argument is based on a) The structure of a language 1/6 the age of Judaism, b) Telling people to "get real" in a grossly over generalized way when talking about the entirety of the Bible/Torah/Q'ran.
Do I really have to point out why you're a raving idiot?
