My hair:
Naturally red (bad)
Naturally curly (bad)
Tendency to frizz (bad)
I hate the colour so I dye it, but only semi-permanent because when I've dyed my hair permanently (when I had it black and also when it was blonde) it fell out a lot.
However even after a couple of weeks post dye-job I have red roots, because the pigment in my hair is so strong it refuses to allow itself to be eradicated, so I dye it again and it becomes more unevenly shaded and damaged.
Also, because I dye my hair I try not to dry it and straighten it much (even though the curls are bad most of the time) so it looks decidedly dodgy 90% of the time, unless I leave it to dry naturally overnight and then straighten it in the morning, but that doesn't happen much because I shower every morning after I run...
HELP ME!!!!
I don't think red hair suits me, but I can't have it any other colour without damaging it. I'm at a loose end. All constructive advice much appreciated. Please.
Cucking Funt 03-17-05, 06:49 I have no hair, sorry. I'm about as much use as air conditioning on a motorcycle. When I was a wee-bairn I had very curly hair that was completely unmanageable, I frigging hated it, so I can feel your pain.
Are you following me?
That was not constructive, and thus not appreciated.
Cucking Funt 03-17-05, 09:06 Following you? Whatever gave you that idea? I'm just passing the time of day, dear.
Are you paranoid?
Yes, extremely, along with various other things, and I reckon that might be what's making my hair curly, because it went straight for a while between the ages of 5 and 13.
Cucking Funt 03-17-05, 09:23 Ok. But it makes feel very uncomforatble when people accuse me of following them, when that's not the case, at all. I enjoy reading your posts, you're very bright and intelligent.
I was just pointing out that my hair is/was like an afro and that I understand how difficult it can be having curly, wavy hair. I wanted to slap my father at times for having curly gene's when all I wanted was to have straight hair.
Just stop being so paranoid, Sybs. Relax.
Ok.
The following thing was a joke.
I'm also mean, if you hadn't noticed, beware!
But yes, it is horrible! I can't take it.
I want to be blonde, I loved being blonde.
Well if you don't want to shave it off, then stop plaing with it yourself, that always causes damage. Let a salon take care of it. There is this chick nearby who has/dad discusting hair, so curly it looked like an afro, and reddish in color, she obviously hated it because after a couple years of seeing her this way, all of the sudden it was perfectly strait, and brown. Its been this new look for about 1.5 years now, looks very thick and healty, and very nice. I actually never thought it possible to straiten such curly hair. My point, if you cannot fix it yourself, wich is usually not easy in cases like yours, let a salon do it, home products are obviously just not the same.
ps: you are not mean, you're just a bitch :)
I will just have to live with it like it is then because I can't afford anything like that.
Make your bf pay for it? .. if you don't have one, get one, make him pay for it, then dump him.
Wow, good plan! Why hadn't I thought of that already?!
When I was your age I wanted different hair, mine is MAJORLY ringlet curly land and bloody black. I have had many straightening treatments done, most of which were great for about a month, but way too expensive to keep up.
It is also too black to do much with colour wise. I have tried stuff but it has to be bleached for so long first that I used to get blisters on my scalp.
You have to work with what you've got. Believe it or not usually what nature gave you is what suits you best, and the most important thing is the cut.
I spent all those years hating it and no one ever mentioned my hair. Now I let it curl and be black people are always commenting on my hair.
Concentrate on the condition, make it look healthy, soft and stokeable. Look after it.
I work with a woman whose hair is so thin you can see her scalp through it, even at the back.
Bad hair is better than no hair.
And yours isn't even bad.
People everywhere would kill to have naturally curly, naturally red hair.
And it's not like you are a bloke, then I might have some sympathy in case you resembled Chris Evans.
No!!!!
I don't want to be lumped with the ginger gang!
I got picked on so bad when I was younger for my hair, kids are so cruel, it was lovely before I started messing with it. Now I'm just scared that to get it back I'm going to have to chop it short and wait for it to grow out.
Get some good treatments.
I do one every few days or it just frizzes beyond belief. And I used Frizz-ease and the matching mousse and all the other stuff too.
It's amazing how much difference a good serum can make. It can be like having a new head of hair.
No money! None at all!
I have to be nice to it I guess.
I have to wash it every day, I'll just leave the conditioner in for a bit longer.
Use raw beaten egg with mashed banana, put a carrier bag on you head and then gently heat it with a hairdryer now and again (don't melt the bag!).
Anita Roddick showed us that at a careers fair like, 16 years ago.
It works? Don't get fried egg smelling hair?
You know Red hair is nice but instead of dying your hair. Have you try highlight your hair? There are alot of new products out there and it well give you different look. This way when your root grow back it is not as noticeable with hightlight.
Also I find this brand Garnier hair dye very good. It does not dry your hair as other brand. It have some kind of oil in it and it makes your hair feel softer and smoother. After trying few other brand I try to stick to this one.

Not unless you then fry your head. If anything, it smells more of banana cake.
Then use a mild shampoo and condition as normal.
You make a face mask out of honey and oatmeal too, just in case you don't feel daft enough....
