I love when people thank other people for agreeing with their musical preference. Truly wonderful. No, wait... I hate it. It makes me want to hate everything forever. I forgot.
Two facts about the Deftones:
1) Their music evolves.
2) Chino's lyrics evolve.
Pop in Adrenaline, then pop in White Pony. Is there a difference? Yup. Show me a bunch of other bands in the modern metal genre who have gone from key nu-metal instigators to semi-chill art-rock purveyors while both maturing musically and nursing a growing fanbase, and I might agree that they're a crap band. I don't think you'll be able to do that, though. I'm not really defending my opinion so much as I am trying to separate them from the true, uncreative"crap bands" that are out there right now.
As for Trust Company: they aren't geniuses, and they aren't special, but they throw together some good melodies. I dig on a few tracks.... "Deeper into You" is fairly dope. They can't create varied rhythms for the life of themselves, though.... play tracks 1, 6, and 8, for example, and notice how eerily similar the drum parts are. How boring. I must also say that their singer cannot sing. Most of the oomph behind his voice on the CD is all studio work; if you ever hear him sing live, it's pretty sad. He doesn't have much of a range, so his voice gets very wispy as he tries to hit higher notes - which is a hell of a lot. He's a good screamer, though.... I personally think they should switch to a straight hardcore act, or pull an RATM (change their name and find a new singer/songwriter).
And, in conclusion, if you agree with what I have said: thank you. |
