Much of the mideast and north africa was christian or pagan before islamic conquest. The muslims took over much of southern europe before the crusades, reaching as far north as vienna. as did the Persians (is this who you are referring to as the Muslims?), the moors, the Greeks under Alexander, the Romans...your point is?
Look up the origin of the word 'assassin' sometime, they were the islamic terrorists of the middle ages.
The word comes from Hashish and they were persian assassins who got stoned before doing their job, they were assassins for hire, the practice was based mostly in Turkey and surprisingly enough they were the Assassins of the middle ages, not terrorists..
