Is the limited reproductive capability of women responsible for men more often cheating than women?
Common among sheep and higher species(man included) is the "coolidge effect" inspired by a story about president coolidge and his wife touring a chicken farm...his wife asked the farmer if it was true that one rooster could handle the sexual needs of an entire flock of hens, he replied it was. mrs. coolidge pointed that out to president coolidge. At that point president coolidge than inquired about it being a different hen each time...when the farmer said yes, he was sure to point that out to mrs. coolidge.
This inspired the theory that it is an adaptive advantage especially among species with a limited reproductive cycle to "spread the wealth". the coolidge effect could suggest that a man will be more more sexually responsive if he has a variety of sexual partners than limiting himself to one. This effect is noticed among higher species more than lower species, including man which sex is not ruled by a females "heat" stage.
This makes sense in my opinion except the fact that it suggests prefrence would not be an issue(we all know how picky people can be)...so what inspires prefrence in the human species, is it physical or mental, and why are we so darn picky about our sexual partners(well most people)?
