Complete paraphrase; I'd need to get out my book, but essentially it proves that no closed system can be proven. Particularly, he used a large Mathematical compendium (yikes my memory is alluding me; I think it's by Whitehead and another), and within this, his very intense theorem could not be proven.
This theorem does not, however, persist with holy works, as these require faith, not logic; logic is the entire basis of mathematics.
