Then if you could, I'd ask why. Someone said religion makes the world a happy place. I do not think living only to be a slave is a happy life. If you do not do your masters bidding, you will be tortured forever. If you do your masters bidding, you are rewarded. This reward is reason enough for people to love him. This is some seriously deranged logic. Because your master gives you a loaf of bread instead of whipping you is not enough to love your master. I do not think real love is possible between master and slave. Fear, respect, and awe, yes, but real love?
Someone else said something about how the bible says the christians will be persecuted. I'd just like to say that is a big load of crap. Ever hear of the jews? The pagans? Women? Black people? Man, besides WASP men, I don't think any group of people hasn't been persecuted. But when some kids on the internet say god doesn't exist, or christians are fools, then bible humpers yell "PROPHECY!! PROPHECY!! THE BIBLE SAID THIS WOULD HAPPEN!!!"
One more thing. I am scared about mortality. I do not fear punishment or reward (yes, I would fear heaven if it existed), but the thought of not existing is still scary. I will not jump off a bridge. If you are scared about dying, it makes no sense to kill yourself. It does make sense, though,t o convince yourself you will, in fact, NOT die. Now that is comfort.
