Have you not considered what will happen if we undermine the UN's authority yet again, on something this big? It'll be the League of Nations once more (remember when Germany and Japan just "poof" left the League?). Prepare for many little wars around the globe as big countries conquer little countries.
It doesn't matter if the new government is "democratic", by nature of how it works, any government instituted in a foreign country is a puppet government.
