You are protective of more then your security and rights... of your economy as well. A little overprotective... Then it results in poverty on other parts of the globe. This creates hatred... You would do well to check out agracultural subsidies (and the friction this causes near the mexican border), as well as the row on steel import taxes, which angered a lot of nations. (The latter move was even illegal, unsanctioned by the WTO. Bush doesn't care... Arrogant as he is.)
And I'm in the Netherlands. And we are FAR from one people. Our society is called a multicultural one... Where most groups tolerate eachother. Left and right extremists are relativily scarce... (with the shooting of the -populist- (not rightwing) politician Fortuyn being an unfortunate exeption) And it is not easy. But this society has worked for as long as it existed...
As for your ancestors: They were European settlers who fled (mostly) imperialist Europe, who slew the native American population and stole their land. THAT is America. THAT is who founded it. A nation... Of thieves. |

Yeah...terror threats are real...and if we didn't do shit...they would be lot's of incidents all the time. Because they don't like the fact that many of their people come here go to college and adopt a new way of life...they want to show their people that we can be destroyed so that they can rise up and take our place. The fucking muslims are evil muther fuckers (they claim we are satan) did you ever read about early African history...they fucking killed tribes and entire villages because they refused to give up their religion and practice the muslim way of life. As for my ancestors...WRONG. They are English, Europeans, Africans, Asians and Native Americans and even my island brothers form the Carribeans. They all came here or were forced here for different reasons...to escape religious persecution, slavery, etc.... They were not all innocent. Yes the Indians were overpowered in battle and done wrong, yes...my grandfathers were forced by the whip to build this nation from the earth with their blood and sweat and tears, yes my European brothers were greety but smart and from them sprang our government...which today after many battles allows us all to live together with equal rights if we chose. Some of what those early Europeans did is just as bad as Hitler...I know. But today is a different story. We aren't going anywhere bombing people to take over. We are simply helping people that are being persecuted. Had their been no french revolution...would the slaves in the islands be free today? Had there been no slavery the U.S. would not be...I would not be. Hell my whole race would not exist so you can see I have not choice but to be greatful for the course of events and I admire how we learned from our mistakes and others mistakes and really have changed from what they were hundreds of years ago.
