you know what's weird?

i became a seriously hardcore dork in junior high (okay, that's not the surprising part)... so to compensate, i tried to try on every hat that came around. i'd listen to metal so i could talk like/with the metalheads, punk so i could hang with the freaks, rap and soul and that sweet, sweet funk so i could be cool to all the black kids (well, assuming any might happen to move into our little klan town), classical and jazz and all that stuff. and not just with music, but that's an easy way to categorize the types i was trying to find my place among. i wore everyone else's hats, and i ended up wearing everything so much that i wore them all pretty damn well. so, (the ironic part) by being a complete cabbage/sheep/lamer, i ended up being a million times hipper than any of them!

anyone who's ever seen the Woody Allen flick Zelig knows the story of my (social) life.

that might not sound like it has anything at all to do with open-mindedness, but some of you might also know that it has everything to do with it, so i'll leave it at that.

another thing that blew my mind wide the fuck open was LSD. my recipe for lysergic consciousness-expansion: LSD and Beatles. and no large groups of people, just a few, and some enlightening philosophical conversation. then, if you're lucky enough, you just might see that everything is connected, that we are all the same stuff, that the Universe is composed of Light and Love (Crowley knew this as well)...
