Within a week of the Sept. 11 attacks, Amira Quraishi and a group of her friends in New York City had incorporated a nonprofit called Muslims Against Terrorism.
With a message -- the Islam religion does not condone killing innocent people -- but no budget, they turned to the Web to spread the word.
They started with a spare website that tracked hate crimes and cited key passages from the Koran that call for peace, justice and tolerance. Terrorism is an act against God, not for Him. Anyone who tries to justify such atrocities ultimately fails because both Islamic law and theology punish these acts as moral sins and heinous crimes. This is true regardless of one's grievances towards American foreign policy.
