Dy, there's a fundamental problem with what you're saying.

Race is NEVER going to come in to play if you are a white man. No one will bring up the gender or ethnicity of John McCain, Bill Clinton, George Bush, or any of the other presidents. Race, as anyone other than the 'norm' for our society, will be an issue that you can't avoid. Should a black man or hispanic woman never run for anything because their race might get brought in to it? White people don't have that problem because we're used to seeing a white politician. Men don't have the problem of gender because we're used to seeing male politicians.

If you are a white politician you have to deal with skirting around racial issues ALL the time. The exact opposite is not true for any minority. They are expected to hug racial issues and are never demonized for it. If a black man demonizes a white man everyone just bows their head and lets the poor black man have his say because he deserves it right. But god help the whitge man that demonizes any minority. His career and any hopes of furthering it will be completely gone. If a white political rep. were to say that his grandma spouted racial rhetoric and that is why he let slip the nigger word or belongs to a white seperatist church he would be tarred and feathered.
The racial disparity in this country comes from coddling the minorities out of fear that you will be seen as a hate monger and a racist. Its bullshit. Fuck political correctedness. Call a spade a spade and speak the truth of your heart. If someone is a racist it does not matter what color they are they are fucking racist. Obama is racist. Simple.
