reading a play is like putting 'Die Hard' on, and then blindfolding yourself and just listening.
you may be able to imagine it, what the image of an explosion and bruce willis catapulting a car into a helecopter or something, but most of the benefit is in seeing it acted out before you.
you just don't get the emotion and suchlike.
i go to the theatre at least 3-4 times a year (helps that i live under an hour from london) and i own the soundtracks and such for alot that i see, but it's just incomparable.
even if you're reading the exact stage directions... it's just not as good.
it's like reading nick hornby. i love his books, they're awesome. but seeing them in film format is always much more rewarding.
i realised i might have pissed off some blind people. but i'm sure you agree, being blind puts you at a disadvantage. even if someone tells you how beautiful a picture is, its not the same. (not that many, if any blind people will be reading df with txt2speech) |
