Correct me if I'm wrong. Downloading music or recording your favorite radio station is violating the terms of a copyright license or copyright infringement. Stealing property or a CD from a music store is theft as it deprives a person of their property. While copyright infringement is clearly illegal, it may be inaccurate to describe it as theft.

It's a matter of criminal case (theft,stealing) vs a civil case (copyright infringement).
