who are the lost tribes of israel, does anyone know?

i've tried finding some information, but it's all contrary to what everyone else who's talking about them are saying, it seems the only that is agreed on is that at one point in the history of israel the assyrians scattered the northern tribes leaving only the southern two in their native area...so where is it possible they went to?
