i wouldn't rule out NYC. it depends on what you're looking for from a city. NYC is alot more than just the madness of Manhattan. I personally don't like Manhattan all that very much except for a few neighborhoods. I live in Brooklyn and love it here. My neighborhood is quiet and night but there is still so much going on and anywhere you wanna go is a subway ride away.
