Its not an RPG. Its a first person shooter for xbox 360 and Vista. I bought it the day it came out because im a hardcore shadowrun nerd, been playing the pencil and paper RPG since 1995. The game leaves much to be desired, particularly if you're a previous shadowrun fan.

First of all they fucked the story line hard, the timeline is all fucked up. Second of all the graphics are kinda shitty. Elves and trolls look fucking stupid, and movement looks really lame, particularly when climbing ladders. They didnt put any ladder climbing animation is, so you just kind of float up the ladder, its retarded.

All of that aside though the game is ridiculously fun. Its set up like counterstrike, the game goes in a first-team-to-six-points-wins format, and between rounds you get to purchase cybernetic, magic, and weapon upgrades. Playing with different combinations of magic and tech makes for many possibilities, and I've had a good time playing it and experimenting. Unfortunately the relatively small amount of maps, and no ranking function means there isnt a lot of replay value, which is kind of sad.

Oh, also there is no first player story mode. For a game that originated with such an incredibly rich and detailed story, you would think they would have put some type of plot into it, but its straight up multiplayer shooter, which kind of sucks.

So basically, if you want to play a real Shadowrun game, bust out the SNES or Genesis and play the originals, but if you just want to play a fun ass FPS, give shadowrun a shot.
