I don't think the duke team was over scrutinized, I think that this other case was under-scrutinized. I think that any time there is a rape (or any violent crime) it should be taken seriously the suspects have to deal with that invasion of privacy in the name of justice.

However there are also these little things called civil rights and a person is NOT guilty until proven so in the court of law, maybe it should fall on the press to be responsible to not bias an entire country against those who have not been convicted.
