Thanks bro, Saph and I are discussing who will gett he Ipod and who will get the Samsung unit. If I am the one to get the ipod, it looks like it is going Linux. lol
As for the MP3 issue, I know it isn't DRM related well at least on my system. I have come to think it is microsofts bullshit filesystem that is the problem. I have no MP3's that have DRM on them and my issue came up long before the DRM bullshit was a large issue. As for my buddies, I will have to look into his to see if any of his MP3's have DRM on them and if that could be the problem, though I doubt it since he tends to get his music off of soulseek, or limewire(though against my opinion). My system hasn't had this problems ince i shoved all my MP3's onto my old computer or moved them to a linux filesystem. I might have to suggest they add a smaller harddrive just for their music and have it as a FAT32 filesystem and see if the problem persists. Once this bullshit time of year is up I am goign to get spinrite and run it on both my system and his and see if the drive themselves have issues. Again I doubt this since nothing else seems to be removed from the drive and I have been unable to find any trace of the MP3's after they have been removed by any recovery software I have been able to use so far. One I have used int he past is OntRack which has been able to find files before, but this time it found nothign at all alsmost as if the drive had that sector over written 35 times or it had not existed at all. You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.
