It was one crazy weekend
I desided to plan a trip to somewhere I have never been.
I wanted to show off to my friend
Who brags about having travelled everywhere in the world
So Alaska sounded good.
I took time off of work
And packed my bags and set off.
It was beautiful
It was winter still up there
But the sun was out and I had to wear sunglasses to see.
The sun was reflecting off of the snow
So strongly that it gave me a sun burn
I was expecting snow shoes and sled dogs
But I was sadly disapointed.
No wonder my friend never came here.
It was Just like every other tourist site.
I didn't even see a polar bear.
My trip was almost at an end
When I desided to take matters in my own hands.
I rented a dog sled team
But didn't have any money left for a guide
So I bought a map and some provisions
And set out to find my adventure.
I had chose a two day trip to the next town.
I had snow shoes and a sled with dogs
I seen a polar bear near the end of my first day.
This adventure was pretty easy
And would make a great story to tell everyone at home.
The scenery was beautiful and I seened to be on course.
The dogs listened well and knew the trail
It was a lot colder out in the open then it was in town.
But I was determinded to survive this
And settled down for the night.
I awoke early to silence
There were no dogs,
An over turned sled
And not a soul to be seen for miles.
I panicked
I know I tied those dogs
And on closer inspection seen that my city knots
Had easily come undone.
With no dogs to pull the sled
I packed what I could on my back.
Wouldn't my friends laugh at this.
Maybe I won't tell them this part?
Hours later
The land scape looking the same
My feet painfully frozen
But I figure as long as there is pain,
Then they still are ok.
I have seen many polar bears,
And seals
And had to dodge many hidden holes
Watching my step carefully
So not to break through the icey layer
And fall into the freezing water
Soon the sun starts to set.
I still haven't met a single soul,
Or came across the next town.
My feet no longer painful
Or working
I collaspe
Freezing cold
My teeth chattering
And my hands and face so frost bit
That I am sure that I will have scars.
It seems like an enternity passes by.
I start to slip in and out of consciousness.
A roaring sound reaches my ears.
My eyes peek open.
I know that I will die
I see a helicopter flying by.
Help comes
Soon enough to save me.
Too late for me to save myself.
I am no longer cold
Or able to move
My eyes start to frost over
The helicopter moves further away.
My last sight is of the helicopter
Flying away.
So this is what it
Feels like
To die. |
