You guys are missing the point. If life as we knew it was more basic and money was replaced by something more subtle like a bartering system, then the world we live in would actually be easier to live in because you wouldn't have to make money to survive. You could live the rest of your life as a fisherman, doing what you love, and trading your fish for the things you want. Or you could own a farm, wherein you could harvest all the food that you need to survive. There would be no government because government runs on money. It's the ideal situation.
