I agree with sorrow and with Diva on this. Dream dictionaries won't really give you the answers you are looking for, though to some extent there are theories on that we all do have collective consciousness type dreams or that there are some themes that are universal.

Even with this idea, there are still a lot of ways to spin them. For interesting reading, try something by Gayle Delaney, or for something more heavy reading about collective consciousness, try Carl Jung. I suggest steering clear of Freud.

I would say the easiest way to analyze is to just simply think about the emotions you were feeling in the dream, and parallel them to things in waking life (usually current, though past can play into it, or for some of us, future as well). The symbology can be a little trickier, as humans don't generally dream literally, but in metaphors and other symbols as most times the normal consciousness and the other levels of consciousness don't really speak the same "language" ....also it either can't or doesn't want to comprehend things.
