For instance, if I shot a lightning bolt out of my ass, I'd say that was god-like. Doesn't mean I believe in god. Means I relate one situation to the perception of a deity. |
Shooting lightning out of your ass WOULD be god like, because its physically impossible, and willing the impossible to happen is kind of what God does. It doesnt matter what the public perceives to be "god like", because lets be honest, the public is fucking stupid. My point is simply that this technology is a product of science. God is a product of faith. And the two are like oil and water. Unfortunately the followers of God hold tremendous power over what we can do with our scientific technology, and its holding us back.

TAKING god away from anybody is always a big mistake, and I would never argue to forcibly remove religion from the state, it violates all the freedoms I believe in. What I wish is that people would wise up and just realize how silly the whole concept is, so we could get about living in a fucking rational society where Stem Cells can be researched, rape victims can have abortions without being pelted by rocks, Evolution can be taught, and people can think for themselves. I, of course, realize this will never happen, as man is weak, and needs a crutch to help him get over the fear of death. But it doesnt stop me from wishing.
