you don't think having shoes, cars, food, jobs, clothes, etc. is good? hell, let's go back to shakespeare's time, when people died in the streets from the common cold, died at 35 from exhaustion, etc. fuck, man, give modern day life a fighting shot... "the mind is its own place, and in itself can make a Heav'n of Hell, a Hell of Heav'n". surely you see the wisdom in that?
so you mean that the pinnacle of modern existence to you consists of cluttering the landscape to fulfill the lowest, most base and fickle human instincts? if those things necessary for a comfortable life were filtered out of this quagmire, i assure you that everyone would have more space in which to find themselves. rather, they have to have composite decking, 20 different varities of fast food, 5 different grocery stores, hundreds of gas stations, a chain restaurant for each imaginable genre where better locally owned ones already exist, the list goes on and on.

here's a test case for you apostate. 30 miles from here in fauquier county, the old money of the virginia aristocracy have preserved the landscape as it always was. they have prevented housing tracts and industry from invading, and as a result it is the most gorgeous place to live on the east coast. winchester, in contrast, sold its beauty for any kind of crap that could be built on it, and as a result they have attracted more people than the city can support which only causes congestion to worsen. these people have no sense of pride for their location, and don't care what happens to their area as long as they get their bread and circuses.

in times past, these types of people were deprived of power to keep their base instincts from harming the greater good, but now in our "democracy" the crap they spawn out of shortsighted greed becomes everyone's problem. moreover, it is the leaders of society who are expected to solve the problems their wayward underlings have created.

i say, you see a moron on a cell phone, i see lost potential in a salt mine! as nietzsche said, we must tear down the laws of society which are meant to empower the weak so the strong can serve the better will!

enslave the morons of suburbia and give us our beauty back!!!
