I don't agree with that . Experience maybe but upbringing , no . At least not with me . My desires are the total opposite from the way I was brought up .
Maybe it's marking my own territory or the need , for me it's a need , to be different then all the other " sheep " running around chasing the latest hype .
I never understood that , that need to be the same as everybody else . Dress alike , think alike , eat alike , talk alike , buying the same things . Looking like forms fresh out of the cookie cutter .
Fantasy is Desire / Desire is Fantasy

A. If everything you desire (and do) is the QUOTE-UNQUOTE opposite of the way you were brought up, then theorectically (philosophically speaking) the way you were brought up does indeed drive (as well as had set in stone) your desires.
B. How can you equate a difference between experience and upbrining? I mean, I understand fullheartedly what you're trying to suggest, but I can just as easily counter-argue with: 1. you "experience" upbrining; 2. your upbrining brings experiences to you; 3. a number of the experiences you have experienced are in fact a direct result of your upbrining (for example...all my experiences as a musician are the result of the fact that my mother made me play music as a child).
Ergo, how can you argue that desires are a result of experiences, but not upbrining?
And as for the whole "sheep" thing...well, you can actually visit the thread concerning Manson, Nihilism, and Sheep (although, the argument has since evolved into a discussion about the objectivity of perfection)...nevertheless, some interesting discussions about the "sheep" complex there.
