ouch, kinda harsh tozzy, i agree wholeheartedly with the second part but the first part kinda stings. although it probably is true.

one form of knowledge is no better or worse than another. as far as finding a job is concerned, literary studies probably won't be the best choice. i'm a math and science kinda student, but i respect people who prefer the... liberal arts. i think it's a shame that there just isn't much one can do with that kind of knowledge, but it's regrettably not far from the truth.

still, youngwerther, i think you would do well by taking a class outside your comfort zone. you haven't mentioned math or science yet, which are just as airy and intellectual as literature and the arts, or maybe even a practical class. as i've mentioned, i'm a 'computer science' type major and can strongly recommend anything having to do with computers (although i would avoid computer app's classes and go for pure programming, which you would enjoy more as it's closer to math and philosophy than technical studies). why restrict your immense genius to one field alone? how will you ever know if you never try?

O divine art of subtlety and secrecy! Through you ... we can hold the enemy's fate in our hands. - Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Better to reign in Hell, than serve in Heav'n. - Satan, Paradise Lost

Rules to live by, rules to die by, rules to go to heaven or hell by.
