one thing i've learnt from the people i know who took "creative classes" like drama and writing and suchlike, is this... learn one line. because that's the line you'll be reciting for the rest of your life..
"do you want fries with that?"
and really, in the scheme of things, i think you should respect those people you bitched about who took shop, because on the day your plumbing fails and you're knee deep in shit. or when you get structural damage in your house, or you want some building work doing, or in the most common situation, you need a mechanic to work on your car, you'll be begging for these untalented idiots to be helping you.
(almost) everyone has their purpose in life. even if it's to be tripped over in the street and let you know your sense of smell still works.
also, certificates really don't mean much. it's knowledge and experience that matter.
once you leave college/university and try to get yourself a job, you'll find that 90% of employers don't care if you can quote what some smart guy said in a book. they need on site and on the job experience. If you think a forum is going downhill, you have no-one to blame but yourself. |
