honors is overrated. i'm in 'honors' now, and the main difference between an honors student and a normal student here is that honors students are 3x more likely to burn popcorn in their dorm microwaves. that's it. the classes aren't any harder, you're just with people who ask fewer questions. ultimately, it's up to the student to learn everything, you're your own best teachers and professors can only make you want to learn. professors cannot teach anything. listen to them and teach yourselves. anyway, what i'm trying to say here is that being an 'honors' student isn't such a huge deal. don't sweat it. plus, no matter how much anyone tells you, nhs isn't the defining factor in your college applications. you'd be much better off writing a poem, story, doing a unique science fair project, joining an academic club/team or volunteering in the community (autonomously of school), or even getting a meaningful job than having a good enough gpa to be tagged an 'honors' student. trust me, the college will see your gpa either way. school sucks - learning is the good part.
