| Halloween or Hallowspleen. Overrated or tradition? -

Every year, I am shocked at Shelly's face and a load of pumpkins on the shelves all precut according to style. Then there are the trick or treaters. Cute little children in a cheap one pound make over with costumes that look more rediculous every year. The other element is, the safety aspect. Allowing your children to go to strangers houses all by themselves. Kids from as young as five years of age. you can only imagine the delight of a potential child snatcher. Well the time has come around on cue and no doubt there will be the pumpkins with candles glowing the pumpkin with a gruelly face. Pumpkins make good juices and soups, yet people don't treat them as food, but as inedible objects when poor people could have had a taste of luxury for once in their life. The shops make a fortune. They rip off the kids and the parents struggle with bags and bags of treats. I think that Halloween has become a spleen cruncher in terms of boring and hassle. My grandmother who is best described as a sensitive person gets very afraid of people in masks and fake blood stained clothes calling at the door screaming with delight and chanting trick or treat and we are coming to get ya. When my grandmother opened the door once, she fainted. Got rushed to hospital and then decided to sell up, release the capitol tied up in house for a place in retirement home and some for her own children. Grandmother misses the house aswell as the dog who continues to escape and sit next to her old gate whining away. I tried to explain these things to the dog but it just went back to its original spot. beside the gate. Know how he feels. I miss the house too. Your views please.
