i can definitely agree that morals and laws aren't coinciding, in fact, as you said, they aren't even that smilar at times. however, laws are the closest thing we've got to a list of "don't do this because it's wrong" that we've got. if the laws are wrong, we should change the laws. we shouldn't just not enforce the laws because we don't like them. that is to say, why have a law we don't want to enforce?
and i know we've all broken the law before, but taking people out of society doesn't have to be fair. i mean, if you get away with it, you get to remain in society. and it will always be like that forever. just because some of us get away with it isn't a good reason to let others off the hook, though. and i definitely think there's a difference between violent crime and stealing, drugs, speeding, etc. i agree the laws need some work.
