Hardly, there are a variety of reasons for body modifications, phsyical attraction, indicating social status, religious practices, personal reasons, etc.

I need to find something that looks into the causes of such strange and drastic changes in societal norms. One interesting thing that it indicates is that there is no one true ideal form; merely what is accepted at a given time.
