It MAY be cheaper on SOME levels to cover the country with cornfields than to refine crude oil, however 1 can be done with minimal effort more efficiently, but costs more because of environmental issues.

I still say oil is better and its more cost effective because youre not giving up potential land for current issues even though the cost in the mean time is cheaper.
