I learned about putting my pets to sleep when I was about 10 or 11, I had a hamster and it lived for 4 years which is a super long time for a rodent. Anyway at the end he was screeching and he couldnt walk anymore or eat and was in terrible pain and agony. Yeah my dad told me to end his misery and we werent gonna pay money for a 100 dollar poisoning or gassing (sleep) So I cracked his head with a wrench in the basement and buried him in the Garden. It sucked. But it had to be done.
I think the movie Old Yeller prepared me for that one.
