The government is not only supporting white supremacy groups by allowing permits for this kind of thing on a public front, but they are protecting them as well.
On an individual level sure people have the freedoms to choose what they are going to believe about certain things, they even have the freedom to speak it aloud, and no they won't get arrested, because *laughs* America is the "land of the free" (although I have to laugh at that concept these days) but there's a difference imo between what an individual chooses to believe & speak about, and what a government chooses to publicly support. If permits need to be acquired to gather, its not as "free" as one may think. |
You also have to have a permit to go fishing. I seriously doubt that limits the freedom of snagging and gutting a trout.
The permits exist for the protection of the people protesting as well as those witnessing said protest.
And imagine what would have happened if the police weren't allowed to offer their protection in this particular situation.
