Anne Rice is okay-ish, I guess.

She's not completely deplorable (although if I read more of her work, my opinion of her might lower even more), but she's not particularly talented.
She's just...blah.

As far as the vampire thing goes, it's fine unless you take it too far...then it's hilarious. "Hilarious" is the only word for someone who actually believes they are an immortal, blood-sucking being.
