| Philosophy and its relationship with emotion -

In philosophy, what is emotion and how is it acknowledged as such, i.e. how do we know what love, hate, happiness, really is? Do we learn it from our parents, society, etc.? Alternatively, is it something innate that we automatically know as soon as we are born? What does a mood, such as free-floating depression or euphoria, have in common with an episode of indignation whose reasons can be precisely articulated? How are emotions linked together, if they are at all? Are emotions simply feelings? If so, than how is it possible we know what to feel?
