It doesn't have to be dem/dem, but that wouldn't unite anything. It would piss off more people in both parties.

McCain being more honest is a crock. Right now he can speak his mind more openly because he's a senator with a safe seat. Remember when he ran in the Republican primary in 2000? When he went to the south he campaigned as Mr. Conservative. He did the usual pandering to the audience in front of him that all politicians do. It was the similar to what Lieberman did as Gore's VP. Lieberman became Mr. Liberal, even though he isn't.
