Sounds fairly typical really. When you're young and don't have much then you fight against the stats quo and everything that represents it (i.e. conservatism), which is all admirable because you have principles when you're young, because they are all you can afford.

However, when you've actually made something of yourself and gotten ahead in life, your perspective changes. All of a sudden you start to think that keeping things exactly as they are would be a good idea, because you're comfortable now. Sure, when you talk to your buddies you still deplore all the things that you always did. You sign petitions against inequality, you want everyone treated fairly and given an even break.

But when it comes to voting every four years; you want to make sure that nothing changes for you.

Maybe Alice Cooper should have kept his mouth shut, carried on nodding and smiling and letting everyone think that he's still the same old Alice he always was. Like he himself said "If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are."
