Not all questions are created equal. Not all claims are equally sweeping.

If someone makes a claim whose evidence is very much not in evidence, a demand for a cite is reasonable. If someone is clearly unable to keep up with the basics and needs cites for basic economic laws, that's another thing entirely.

Cites should be expected for the non-trivial and non-obvious. Cites to spoonfeed the trivially obtainable are not obligatory.

You need to grasp the concept of "context."
