Actually I can:
1. In the last decade, about 70 million new firearms have entered private hands in the US.
2. Gun control has significantly loosened across the US in that time, primarily in right-to-carry laws.
3. Hence more guns and more people carrying them. With me so far?
4. Violent crime has dropped significantly throughout this period.

It's not as simple as that. What he recognizes, and what you fail to recognize is that there are two kinds of people: criminals and the law abiding. Gun control only affects the law abiding. Criminals will always have guns. The only question is: do we level the playing field?
