Yes, you can play online, although if you want to play with friends, make sure you are on the same "realm" as they are. (if you play a closed battlenet game)
I travel extensively, and my husband introduced me to this game a while back. It make the evenings at the hotels go by quicker. It came out a few years ago, but many people still play it online. Maybe I will see you there sometime!
